First, some apologies from last year. My Smilodon turned out to be a Sunda Clouded Leopard from Kalimantan. (All I had to go on was 'Extant sabre-toothed cat' on the label, which really confused the heck out of me....)
All was revealed when my other half returned from a collecting trip and put me right... ("Of course it isn't an ancient smilodon. It's an extant pseudo-sabre-toothed cat from Kalimantan called the Clouded Leopard...") Of course it was. So apologies to all...
I am quite a newb when it comes to post processing even though I did a lot of darkroom work in the '70s. Took this photo today and processed it in Lightroom CC this evening to dodge the highlights and burn the shadows as the original had a lot of range. X-E1 handheld with 18-55 at 32.9mm, 1/30, f5.6. Any advice and comments welcome.
Experimenting with layer masks in photoshop... Impossible without taking the photographs necesary to post process. Used the fuji x-t10 with the 35 mm f2.0 ISO 200 f2,8 ss 1/8
A spinning wheel from historic Fort Ross, north of Jenner, Northern California. The fort was originally built by Russians in 1812 and occupied until 1842. Note the classic Russian-style engraved chair.
